Exclusive: Marcus Ramone (Pleasure P) Discusses Tour Life, RSVP, And The Return Of Pretty Ricky

Marcus Ramone (formerly known as Pleasure P) has always represented the essence of R&B music. Currently on the highly-anticipated “Champagne & Roses Tour” with Ne-Yo and Mario, Ramone took a moment to discuss tour life, his new music, and the possible return of Pretty Ricky.

The “Champagne & Roses Tour” is viewed as one of the best R&B tours of the year. How did it come together?

It’s a crazy story. We were celebrating one of our friend’s birthday and just vibing. I go home, and I’m sleeping. It’s like three o’clock in the afternoon. I wake up to my fire alarm going off and smoke is everywhere. So I jump up. I run. And when I get downstairs, my whole basement is on fire. I call 911 and they come to put everything out.  So I was able to go to my car and charged my phone because my phone was dead. When I turned on my phone. I got a call from my manager. He was like, ‘Yo, do you want to be a part of this tour.’ And I was like, Well, you know, my house burned down, but I’ll love to be part of it. So that’s how it really came about.

Wow, that’s a wild story. We’re glad that you are safe. In terms of the tour, what has it been like thus far?

It’s like a grown man tour. Everybody is handling their business. Everyone’s on time. We gather for catering every now and then. It’s a lot of camaraderie that goes on with all of us. But for the most part, it’s just chill, man. Real chill, and everybody is about business.

I want to go back a bit because you come from a musical family. How did your parents inspire you?

My parents were both in singing groups so I pretty much grew up around that. So, you know, Tuesday nights, Thursday nights, just rehearsal in the living room. I’m around it 24/7. My father also got signed to Capitol Records, so that was pretty much always around me.

What do you remember most about your Pretty Ricky days?
It was like a frat house. It’s like we had our own fraternity that taught you how to deal with each other and brotherhood. We put in a lot of work. We’ll come home one day out of the month. And, you know, the girls would chase us and beat on the tour bus. The impact that we had is kind of crazy. If we had social media back then, everyone would’ve saw more of the behind the scenes that we experienced everyday.

Are there any talks to reunite?

We’ve had talks. I think the momentum was put on pause after Baby Blue faced legal issues. So he needed some time to get his mind right. So we kind of just put it on hold. And Spectacular is busy with his tech business and online mentoring. It will happen. And the world will know when we’re back.

What can fans expect from RSVP?

We’re about to release a new single. It’s going to be one of the top songs in the country. We want to shoot a video for it. We kind of slowed down because Sammy ended up putting out a solo album and going on tour. So we’re going to pick it back up.
