The chairman of the New Black Panther Party says they will carry guns in Ohio for the GOP Convention protests next week, if legal.
“If it is an open state to carry we will exercise our Second Amendment rights because there are other groups threatening to be there that are threatening to do harm to us,” Hashim Nzinga told Reuters. “If that state allows us to bear arms, the Panthers and the others who can legally bear arms will bear arms.”
Some of the supporters of presidential candidate Donald Trump, as well as several other groups, have also said that they would carry guns in Cleveland if legal, says Reuters, adding that has lead to concerns about two rival groups being armed in close proximity.
Officials in Ohio have said it will be legal for protesters to carry weapons at demonstrations outside the convention under that state’s gun laws, according to the newswire.
