Great Frame-Up Artist of the Month Show

A Resounding Success

Chicago has been known for its innovative style and swag in all that it does  and Artist month is right up there on the top shelf. October has been reserved for Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence nationally, but on the local scene Chicago chose to honor artists so throughout the month of October artists are showcased in galleries all over the city. It’s an opportunity to acquaint your self with both the established

artist of much acclaim and the up and coming.  For many it’s the perfect venue to gain exposure.

As a product of a rich liberal arts education, the fine arts are nothing new for attorney, poet, and judge, Ginger Mance, however   this year she embarked on a maiden voyage into visual arts. These works were a natural outgrowth of her newest book in progress, In the Mind of God.
Ms. Mance explains her inspiration,  “In the science of the healing arts, chakras are perceived as energy centers in and around the human body represented by intense primary and secondary colors like purple, shades of blue, green, orange, yellow, and red. The more I embraced these energy centers consciously the more my appreciation of  color and how it impacts our lives grew.” Mance has worked these colors and themes into watercolor and acrylic paintings in pulsing orbs and expressionistic designs.  As a reward for her efforts her work has been recognized by The Great Frame Up in Hyde Park which  designated Mance as October 2015 Artist of the Month. The collected works of her “Chakra Art: Dance of the Soul” are on display through the end of the month.

The opened exhibit on October 7 with an artist talk, light refreshment and live music was so well attended, the  owner of 14 years, Mark Jelke declared it was “the greatest turn out of all of our Artist of the Month events combined.” Many of the paintings also incorporated elements of verse in hand-lettered text. There were a respectable number of sales, especially for a first-time show. In fact, two patrons were observed in a “tug of war” over one piece with text that read, “I am rooted in Love.”

“Ginger Mance’s current art exhibit at the Great Frame-Up is beautiful, with a touch of the divine,” Beverly Ross Normand, Founder of Rald Institute, a non profit organization for arts remarked. “Though this is her debut in visual arts, she achieves mastery in content, and there is beauty in the structural simplicity of the work, and thought provoking, complex spiritual/political messages, too, typical of her poetic achievements.”  Rald Institute purchased one of the works  during the reception, Love is a Rainbow of Color.

“I custom frame my own work and part of my work includes finding and refurbishing old frames, painting them also in Chakra colors and giving them new birth,” Ginger Mance explained. “I want to share my art. It’s like sharing a bit of my soul.”
“It was nothing short of amazing,” said Heshima Mance. “Each piece

with the multitude of colors captured me. The paintings, which represent the chakra healing centers of the body, set the tone for much positive energy to fill the room. As I listened to Ginger speak as to how her art came about she was inspiring, uplifting, and motivating. I could feel her passion for the arts and love of people.”

“Chakra Art” remains on display at the Great Frame Up, 1418 E. 53rd St. through the end of October 2015. A closing reception/birthday celebration for the artist, with wine sip, Middle Eastern “bites” provided by Tanoor Grill and live music takes place on Friday, October 23 from 5-8 p.m.  The event is free, open to the public and the art is available.
