Sheryl Lee Ralph hosting Free HIV Testing at West End Mall

ATLANTA — Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph is helping to host “National HIV Testing Day” at The Mall at West End for free HIV Testing on Friday, June 26 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Atlanta.
The renowned actress and longtime HIV/AIDS activist, who is founder of The D.I.V.A Foundation, will be in the building along with Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness, Saint Joseph’s Mercy Care, AIDS Healthcare Foundation and OraSure Technologies offer free rapid HIV testing at The Mall West End, directly in front of Payless ShoeSource. In addition to HIV testing, additional free health screenings will be available throughout the day.
Ralph will make an appearance at the West End Mall from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Ralph is helping to help draw attention to the critical role that HIV testing and prevention education play in stemming the spread of HIV/AIDS in NYC and across the U.S. Free HIV testing with OraQuick® oral swab rapid HIV test will be available to thepublic from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
The test is simple, greater than 99 percent accurate and the results are available in 20 minutes.
According to the CDC, of the more than 1.2 million people living with HIV in the U.S., an estimated one in seven do not know that they are infected and only one in four has their virus under control with treatment.
Early diagnosis and treatment saves lives and is known to reduce the spread of HIV. Those with HIV who are on treatment and in care can reduce the risk of spreading the virus to others by as much as 96 percent. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) encourages everyone to know their status.
