ATLANTA — Five-time Grammy winning songstress Dionne Warwick and hip hop legend Doug E. Fresh were in Atlanta on March 27 for the National Kidney Foundation – “Paint Atlanta Orange.”
As a spokesperson for this relevant and important cause, Dionne has taken this as a personal crusade to promote the statistics of this silent, but deadly health crisis.  Statistics report that one in six adults in Georgia (one of 8 states that make up the “Diabetes andStroke Belt) has kidney disease.

Warwick speaks to why she works so hard for others and helping to stem the tide of these national health crises such as chronic kidney disease.
“My grandfather told me when I was a very, very small child, that we were all individually and collectively put here on this earth to be of service to each other and throughout my life I’ve heeded his words of wisdom.
“I’ve had the honor of serving as the US Ambassador for Health, appointed by President Ronald Reagan after I had decided to stop talking about – and start doing something about – the disease ravaging our country and the world called AIDS,” said Warwick. “My passions have also called me to campaign for a number of other causes dear to my heart including children’s hospitals, world hunger, disaster relief, music education and now for the past few years Chronic Kidney Disease.
“Each year kidney disease kills more people than breast cancer or prostate cancer, and I believe that together we can shed important light on this devastating disease that often has no symptoms and can go undetected until it reaches advanced stages.”
