The king and queen of pop and hip hop hijacked most of South Beach on Thursday to commence their highly-ballyhooed “On the Run” Tour before a thundering throng of fans inside American Airlines Arena.
On this night, the raging rumors of a marital implosion and an elevator explosion (sorry Solange) dissipated like the tide receded into the Atlantic, as the 42-song set culled from the classic cuts and club anthems like “Crazy In Love,” “Upgrade Ya,” “Bonnie & Clyde,” “On The Run” and “Hollywood”.
The energy inside the cavernous stadium continued soaring on an upward trajectory until it reached a feverish crescendo with poignant footage from their royal couple’s top secret wedding back in 2008 spilling from the big screen — replete with images of Hov putting a ring on it and Queen Bey playing with Blue Ivy.
