I’m not sure why dad doesn’t get the same consideration as mom when it comes to gifts. I think dad is just as important as mom. Father’s Day is just around the corner and if you are lucky enough to still have dad around, I found a great idea for a gift. If you are a steady reader of the New Pittsburgh Courier you know that for many years I have been a celebrity chef at Benihana for Three Rivers Adoption Council. Well, I found a great gift at Benihana for dad. Check out the details.

For 50 years, Benihana has been grilling up flavorful food in a fun and entertaining way—and now it’s dad’s turn! This Father’s Day, the New Pittsburgh Courier readers can give dad a unique and memorable gift: the Benihana “Be the Chef” package.

The “Be the Chef” package allows dad the opportunity to train one-on-one with a world-famous Benihana chef and then show off his new skills in front of friends and family! Besides the grilling and showmanship training session, the package also includes a signature Benihana chef hat and apron, diploma and commemorative photo.

The “chef” must be 18 years of age. In order to purchase this great package, contact your local Benihana, ours is located in Green Tree. By the way, you cannot book this on line.

The “Be the Chef” basic package” is $140 for four people (the chef and three guests), and additional guests are $35. The “Be the Chef” special package” is $250 for a party of eight. The chef’s guests will enjoy a meal of Benihana soup, Benihana salad, shrimp appetizer, hibachi vegetables, Splash ‘N Meadow entrees, homemade dipping sauces and Japanese hot green tea.

I would love to see my brother-in-law get this package. He is a great father and husband. I might even spring for half if they would wait until I get to Detroit to join in. This is so much better than a tie, a shirt or cologne. This is really not a pricey gift, keep in mind this is dad and three others, each of you will eat. You know men like to play with fire and grill, so with this, he can do both at the same time.

Each time I have cooked at Benihana I have had a ball and so have the rest of the chefs. This would have been something my dad would have loved. He was funny, loved to cook and did very well at it. I’m sure once you make the purchase you will have a window of time to use the package. So give him this unique package for Father’s Day and then pick the date that he will cook. Tell him Debbie told you about it.
