Bilingual Christmas Pageant Featuring Dikembe Mutombo in Atlanta

The Seigakuin Atlanta International School’s elementary department will have a Christmas Worship Service and Pageant that will feature former Atlanta Hawk Dikembe Mutombo.

During the service, which happens Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 at Seigakuin Atlanta International School in Gwinnett County, 5505 Winters Chapel Rd., Atlanta, GA 30360, students will speak parts of the service in Japanese and others in English.

This year’s school theme is “Many Nations, One Earth.” The theme of the pageant being that the message of Christmas is spoken in many languages around the world.

In addition to Mutombo, Pastor Michael Yuming Zhu, who is originally from Shanghai, China, will act as a special guest during the worship session. After the worship service, students will present gift boxes to Mutombo.

One of this year’s service-learning projects was “The Congo Project”, so Seigakuin students wrote get well cards and bought gifts for the sick children at the Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mutombo’s homeland.

This past June, the eight-time NBA All-Star and first four-time Defensive Player of the Year in league history was the guest of honor during a recent Foreign Sportswriters Association of Japan meeting in Tokyo. As the NBA’s Global Ambassador, Mutombo was in the capital city for the Basketball Without Borders Asia program which featured 50 players ages 18 and under, representing 18 nations in the region, including Australia and New Zealand.

Japan’s first-ever Basketball Without Borders camp ran in conjunction with a clinic for children in Sendai, the site of Japan’s devastating earthquake.
