Macy’s Celebrates Black History Month

Black History Month Macys

Attending Macy’s Atlanta celebration of Black History Month and observance of the 100th anniversary of the birth of renowned artist Romare Bearden, are Kristy Page, Macy’s director of Diversity Strategies, (from left); Jerry Thomas, art dealer and consultant; and Gail Nutt, special consultant at Macy’s, shown  with artwork by Bearden. Thomas loaned the art for Macy’s in partnership with the Romare Bearden Foundation.  Bearden’s works in the show at Lenox Square on the second floor include “Conversation” and his famous Jazz Series.  Bearden, one of the most important artists of the 20th Century, is the only African-American artist to have a solo show organized by the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
