Atlanta's Youth to Welcome We Belong Together Kids Caravan

City is the first stop on kids’ courageous journey to the White House

On April 11th, Atlanta’s youth will welcome 40 participants of the We Belong Together Kids Caravan, as they make their first stop on a week-long bus journey to Washington,

DC, to stand in unity for their country and stand up to Trump’s attacks.

Many of these young people have been directly impacted by deportations, family separation, lack of investment in their schools, and criminalization of their friends. Throughout the day, children and youth from Atlanta and the

Kids Caravan will participate in series of activities to build community and learn from each other. With their futures at stake, youth are demanding a country that welcomes and respects everyone.

Charlene, a 17 year-old Kid Caravan participant from Miami, said,

“The problems that we face as Latinos and as African Americans are similar, and we need each other to make a difference in America. I

want to help get the message across that immigrants are being treated unfairly. A lot of us work in farm labor, and we don’t get paid much. Now we also have to deal with the fear of our loved ones being deported, because President Trump is not willing to listen

to us. But I will never give up, and I most definitely stand up for what I believe in and that makes me unbreakable.”

Children and youth from the Kids Caravan kicked off their journey in Miami on April 10th, and will unite with hundreds of other kids and supporters in DC in front of the White House on April 13th. They will encircle Lafayette Park to demonstrate the unbreakable bonds between them, and host a speak out to declare their vision for the country.
