On Thursday, Nov. 17, Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford entered a judgement in the lawsuit filed by Attorney Bedelia Hargrove, Administrator, on behalf of the Estate of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The Estate was represented in this action by Attorneys, lead counsel, R. David Ware of Hall Booth Smith, P.C. and, co-counsel, Glenda Hatchett of The Hatchett Firm, P.C.

Ms. Brown, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found unconscious in the bathtub of her home on Jan. 31, 2015, and later died on July 26, 2015.

The Court entered a judgement against defendant Nick Gordon on all the counts of the lawsuit filed by Hargrove as amended on Aug. 7, 2015 and today awarded $36,250,000 in damages.

David Ware stated, “There was an urgent need, in my mind, to get justice for Bobbi Kristina Brown and that’s why I took the case. We intend to pursue, with all vigor, the full collection of the judgment. The Defendant will not escape justice nor ever profit from his misdeeds. We hope that in some small way this will allow Krissy’s family to continue their quest for peace.”

Glenda Hatchett adds, “Domestic violence is a horrible reality in our society and Bobbi suffered such horrific pain and degradation at the hands of Nick Gordon, the man she loved and trusted.” She further stated that, “No one should suffer the way she did and the Judge sent a strong message in the award of punitive damages that this despicable behavior is inexcusable and will not be tolerated.”

Ware and Hatchett did not represent Bobby Brown in the wrongful death phase of the proceedings before the Court. Mr. Brown was represented by Attorney Craig Terrett.
