As students across Chicago prep to head back to School after Labor Day, Clorox and World Vision plan to help by alleviating some of the high costs of school supplies. The company and nonprofit will hold a school supply pop-up shop at Douglas Taylor School — named a Breakthrough School by the National Association of Secondary School Principals in 2009 and 2013 — on Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Clorox and World Vision will distribute approximately 500 backpacks full of essential school supplies, like backpacks, notebooks, pencils as well as items from Clorox®, GLAD® and Hidden Valley Ranch®. The event is open to students of Taylor Elementary and their families, as well as members of the surrounding community. Supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, so early arrival is suggested.
This year, Clorox is also partnering with DonorsChoose.org to help teachers get the funds they need for classroom projects and supplies through a $100,000 donation and a receipt validation program. Customers earn rewards when they buy Clorox®, Hidden Valley® and Glad® products. Then, they can choose to donate their rewards to DonorsChoose.org or redeem for money back for you off future purchases (delivered via PayPal credit).
