Today, Habitat Humanity Chicago kicked off its fourth annual Women Build in West Pullman.
The annual program Women unites together more than 300 women over five days to fund and start construction of the home of a woman-led family in need of decent affordable housing. Catherine Goins, a hardworking mother of three boys, is this year’s lucky recipient. According to a release Goins has contributed countless hours to help build some of her neighbors’ homes. Finally, it’s her time to be on the receiving end.
Throughout the five-day event, which ends July 16, 60 women will not only help build homes for others but learn building skills, too.
Chicago celebrities Jeanne Gang, a world-renowned architect; Sasha Adler, a prolific interior designer; and Alison Victoria, the star of HGTV’s “Kitchen Crashers’ will all be making appearances at the event.
