Keyshia Cole has a legendary hot temper, is legendarily contentious, hot-headed, hard-headed and has legendary delusions of grandeur that makes her inflate her career impact beyond what she believes it is.
Nothing wrong with calling yourself a “legend” in the quiet confines of darkness with no one else’s ears are assaulted. But when the famously combustible and irascible singer called herself an “R&B legend” on an international stage such as the “Hip Hop Honors,” that is quite another thing.
Don’t get it twisted. Cole has belted out some great songs. “Heaven Sent” is a fantastic love ballad. Her first three albums were certified hits. But that doesn’t make her a legend. Prince, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross … those are legends. So are Tupac, Dr. Dre, Snoop, Beyonce, Biggie, Jay Z. Folks will be bumping to their music 20, 30 and 40 years from now. Is Cole really and honestly hoisting herself and exalting herself into the pantheons of music occupied by these true transcendent musical megastars? She can’t be.
Because of her faux pas, social media ripped into Cole like jackals tearing at freshly killed carcass. Take a look at some of the funniest Keyshia Cole memes and tweets to her attaching the word “legend” to her name.
