Since 1990, the Coleman-Patrick Scholarship has provided financial assistance for the educational goals of racial-ethnic students affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.

The scholarship is named in honor of Elder Robert Coleman and Rev. Dr. Leroy Patrick.  Robert Coleman was active in the Synod of the Trinity of the Presbyterian Church USA in addition to being Mayor of Port Royal, Pa.  Rev. Patrick was the long-time pastor of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Homewood.

Former recipients have gone on to become prominent citizens not only in Pittsburgh but throughout the country.

Each year the Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus raises money for the scholarship.  Many Pittsburgh Presbyterian Churches collect offerings that are specifically for the scholarship.  Recently, a t-shirt fundraiser was done to get additional donations for the scholarship.

Active members in the Caucus includes members of Bethany Baptist Church, Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Bidwell Presbyterian Church, East Liberty Presbyterian Church, Grace Memorial Presbyterian Church, Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community, Judah Fellowship and Valley View Presbyterian Church.

Donations to the Coleman-Patrick Scholarship Fund are appreciated.  Please send checks payable to the Coleman-Patrick Scholarship Fund to: 1000 Bryn Mawr Rd., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219.
