Sixth Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 6556 Shetland Avenue in Lincoln Larimer, celebrated its first anniversary, May 7, with their Family & Friends Initiative Gospel Concert.
Lead by Executive Director Parrish Davenport and many administrators, it recently made the headlines for the United We Stand Project which served the people of Flint Michigan in its ongoing water crisis by providing 400 cases of bottled water to their community. The goal of the church is to deliver 2000 cases of water on the behalf of the City of Pittsburgh by June.
The anniversary event featured a variety of components including gospel, spoken word, mime and personal achievements were also honored. A Mother’s Day Presentation was given to Christin Thorpe for her educational accomplishments while as a single parent to a newborn. The Family & Friends Choir lifted the spirits of all as their heavenly voices reverberated the church.
