ATLANTA — After dominating “Comedy Central” for more than a decade with their hilarious hi-jinks and unique brand of comedy, national joke phenomenons Keye and Peele (Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele) are bringing their liver-quivering act to the big screen in the laugh-filled film “Keanu.”
Only Key and Peele could possess the skill, screen charisma and sheer audacity to transform the idea of a kitten caper into a major motion picture and make it work. And the pair have embarked on a mini-national tour to promote the romp, which also stars rap legend Method Man of the iconic 90s group Wu Tang Clan, bronze bombshell Nia Long (Boyz N the Hood, Love Jones, The Best Man) and Jason Mitchell (who should have gotten award nominations for his brilliant and uncanny portrayal of Eazy E in the blockbuster Straight Outta Compton).
The movie breakdown works like this: Recently dumped by his girlfriend, slacker Rell (Jordan Peele) finds some happiness when a cute kitten winds up on his doorstep. After a heartless thief steals the cat, Rell recruits his cousin Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key) to help him retrieve it. They soon learn that a thug named Cheddar (Method Man) has the animal, and he’ll only give it back if the two men agree to work for him. Armed with guns and a gangster attitude, it doesn’t take long for the hapless duo to land in big trouble.
