Mayor Kasim Reed to host 2nd launch of the Atlanta ConnectHome program

Mayor Kasim Reed will be joined by representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Atlanta Housing Authority and the Atlanta Public Schools for the second launch of the Atlanta ConnectHome Program on Tuesday, April 12 at 4:30 p.m. This national pilot program is designed to bridge the digital literacy gap for school-aged children in the City of Atlanta by providing families with free wireless devices, internet service and digital literacy training.
The Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting the event at the Center of Hope at Adamsville Recreation Center.
Atlanta is one of 27 cities and one tribal nation chosen to participate in the ConnectHome pilot program.
Reed will be joined by the likes of: Samir Saini, Chief Information Officer; Amy Phuong, Commissioner, Department of Parks and Recreation; Michael T. Sterling, Executive Director, Atlanta Workforce Development Agency; Ed Jennings, Southeast Regional Administrator, U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development; Joy W. Fitzgerald, CEO and President, Atlanta Housing Authority; and Dr. Rubye Sullivan, Executive Director, Data and Information, Atlanta Public Schools.
