State Representative La Shawn Ford’s, HB6266 to save the Chicago Police misconduct records is in the Judiciary Committee and the next hearings are scheduled for Monday, April 4th at 4:00 PM, and Wednesday, April 6th at 2:00 PM. The state legislature has created a new website for concerned citizens to register their support, whether pro or con.
Click on this link and scroll towards the bottom of the page to HB6266:
On the right-hand side of the page you will see two icons; clicking on the left icon shows who has already registered; the icon on the right allows you to register. It is important to register your support so that when the bill is up for debate on Monday, all the witness statements will be read into the record and will demonstrate the public support behind preserving the records.
The University of Chicago Law Professor Craig Futterman said: “It is critically important that people file witness slips in support of [this] bill.”
