ELPC celebrates ordination of Rev. Fowler-Searcy

East Liberty Presbyterian Church just celebrated the ordination of Rev. Patrice Fowler-Searcy at East Liberty Presbyterian Church, as a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Rev. Patrice is the first called associate pastor for mission ministries at ELPC. She has been a member of the church staff since May, 1996, and in addition to being a graduate of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, she also serves as the Vice Chair of the PTS Board.

March 6, Essence of Joy from Penn State University, presented special music during the 11 a.m. worship service at East Liberty Presbyterian Church. Led by Dr. Anthony Leach, this gospel choir also presented a free concert at 3 p.m. in the beautiful ELPC gothic sanctuary, to which the public was invited.

On March 13, the Rev. Dr. J. Herbert Nelson II preached at East Liberty Presbyterian Church for their 11 a.m. worship service. Rev. Nelson is the executive director of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Office of Public Witness in Washington, D.C. On March 12, he met with a local chapter of the National Black Presbyterian Caucus, encouraging all people of faith to live lives of active social witness and justice activism.
