Capital Hill And White House On Lockdown After Shooting

Early media reports have indicated that the Capital Hill building and the White House have been put on lockdown due to an “active shooter.” The shooter allegedly entered into the Capital Hill Visitor Center lobby just before going through the metal detectors and pulled out a gun. An alert Visitor Center Police Officer saw the perpetrator and fired one shot and took the perpetrator down, according to a CNN report.
It has also been reported that one officer was injured by gunfire but it hasn’t been confirmed. Meanwhile, parts of the Capital Hill complex was evacuated as authorities assessed the situation and continued to issue updates to the public and various media outlets. It has been reported that the alleged perpetrator has been apprehended and taken to the hospital for their injury.
No word if President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were in the White House at the time of the partial lockdown. Stay tuned for further developments.
