COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The 24th Trumpet Awards commenced in northwest Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center, a formidable edifice sufficient to pay homage to the best of African American culture, politics and arts who then used their status to elevate others.
Hosted by Nia Long (Boyz N the Hood, Love Jones, Best Man franchise) and Terrence J (BETs’ “106&Park,” Think Like a Man franchise), the 2016 Trumpet Awards featured CEO and founder Xernona Clayton and included the likes of actor Michael Ealy (Barbershop, Think Like a Man), prolific producer Will Packer (Think Like a Man, Ride Along, No Good Deed), comedian George Wallace, Ne-Yo, Alexis Herman, Rep. Barbara Lee and many others.
