In the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church every four years a general conference is held. The Allegheny Conference took place during Nov. 3-8, 2015, in the Pittsburgh Area. On the final day of the conference at Wesley Center AMEZ Church, where Rev. Glenn Grayson is the pastor and the host pastor for the conference, Bishop Louis Hunter Sr. read the 2015-2016 pastoral appointments for the Braddock and Pittsburgh districts. The Quadrennial Theme was “Fortifying Our Faith While Focusing on our Future Through Stewardship.”
This was the last conference that Bishop Hunter would preside over for the Allegheny Conference. In July of this year, Bishop Hunter will be retired as an active bishop. In July, rules are updated and new bishops are elected. This will take place in Greensboro, N.C.
The most recent conference was presided over by Rev. Stanley Dennison (Braddock District) and Rev. Dr. Lamar D. Lee Jr. (Pittsburgh District) as the presiding elders. Ingrid Flack Hunter is the missionary supervisor. A large crowd enjoyed the Nov. 8, 2015 Sunday Services that concluded with the Ushers Grand March and the reading of appointments. The crowd was elated to find that their current pastors would remain in their current churches.
