ATLANTA — LeToya Luckett’s face was aglow like soft dinner candles on the set of the upcoming TV One sitcom “Here We Go Again.” Even though Atlanta Daily World was there for just a few short hours, you could instantly discern that the former Destiny’s Child star seemed to be in a good space both professionally and personally.
First off, she has procured a role in a TV show that enables the former “Single Ladies” actress to continually expand her artistic realm as a young single mom who was raised by a young single mom — and trying to prevent her young daughter from becoming a young single mom as well. Secondly, she is flanked on the set by the dynamic and super-charismatic Wendy Raquel Robinson (“The Steve Harvey Show,” “The Game”), whose innate acting skills and quick wit makes you think she was born on a movie set. Also, she is being guided by the prolific and award-winning director Eric Dean Seaton, whose portfolio of directing gigs is as thick as a bank vault and includes stints for NBC, Warner Bros., Disney, BET and Nickelodeon.
It doesn’t hurt that, like this writer, Seaton is a Buckeye State native (Cleveland) and graduated from THE Ohio State University.
The on-set chemistry between Luckett and Robinson was evident right away, even though Robinson revealed that she had never met the platinum-selling singer before. This invaluable intangible will come in handy as two actresses tackle grown men/women issues in endearing and comedic ways with “Here We Go Again,” set to air on TV One in February.
“Here We Go Again” is about the Walkers, who work diligently to break an intergenerational curse of early pregnancy, something urbanites know all about, and it spawns all types of drama and comedy, sometimes simultaneously. And what is so endearing about this show, from what little I was able to see, I was able to discern that “Here We Go Again” will not be scared to venture into provocative and risque topics of dating and sex.
It’s about to be on!
