Shinola has partnered with the Muhammad Ali Center to create the latest installment in the Great Americans Series, a collection of limited edition watches created to honor iconic American innovators and industrial pioneers who helped make our country great.
“This watch is a tribute to the principles that fuel his incredible life and serve as the founding pillars of the Muhammad Ali Center,” said Shinola’s Jacques Panis.
Offered in a limited edition of four hundred watches, the Muhammad Ali Center watch is available in men’s and women’s variations in both 41mm and 36mm sizes with a stainless steel cushion case and a brown alligator strap with distinct red backing. The watch is sold as part of a gift set and includes three rarely seen, Muhammad Ali photographs signed by award-winning photojournalist Thomas Hoepker and offered in a limited edition size. The photos were shot by Hoepker in the 1960’s when he was assigned to document Ali for an article in Stern magazine. Thomas and his wife spent several days with him, documenting everything from training in the gym to hanging with groups of kids in downtown Chicago as he prepared for his fight against British heavyweight, Brian London.
The set retails for $2,250 and is packaged in a custom wooden watch box inscribed with Muhammad Ali’s six core principles: Confidence, Conviction, Dedication, Giving, Spirituality and Respect.
“We are honored to have collaborated with Shinola on the launch of the Muhammad Ali Center Limited Watch,” said Donald Lassere, President and CEO of the Muhammad Ali Center. “It is especially timely and fitting that our launch would coincide with the 10thanniversary of the Muhammad Ali Center. In addition to marking a decade of progress, we are also able today to celebrate the power of Muhammad Ali’s legacy.”
Purchase of the Muhammad Ali Center Limited Watch also includes membership into The Foundry: a private collectors’ club established exclusively for owners of limited edition Shinola products.
The set is available for purchase exclusively through Shinola.com and Shinola stores worldwide beginning Nov. 19.
