10 Motor City Match program winners celebrated in a big way

Motor City MatchMotor City Match program officials have finally unveiled the 10 awardees of the first round of funding for the business development partnership.
“We have to build a culture of entrepreneurship,” said Mayor Mike Duggan. “We need to build a city where young people see a future for themselves.”
Motor City Match is a partnership between the City of Detroit, the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, the Economic Development Corporation of the City of Detroit and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Hundreds of applicants vied for funding yet only 10 were awarded part of the lump sum of $500,000.
The competitive financial assistances are supported by a broad partnership of Southeast Michigan community development financial institutions, foundations and corporations.
The Economic Development Corporation of Detroit has approved 27 high-ranking buildings for the first round of the Motor City Match program. More than  80 businesses were also award help with business planning, technical assistance and site selection help.
“We are excited to honor and award these winners,” said Rodrick Miller, president and CEO of the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation. “Ain’t no party like a Detroit party because a Detroit party never stops.”
