vester-lee-flanagan1-e1440745787705*One day after Vester Lee Flanagan killed two TV journalists during a live broadcast, his family expressed their condolences via a statement released on Thursday (Aug. 27).
On Wednesday, Flanagan shot Alison Parker, 24-year-old reporter from WBDJ7 News in Virginia and her cameraman, 27-year-old Adam Ward. At the time of the shooting, Parker was interviewing a lady named Vicki Gardner. Gardner, who suffered a gunshot wound,  is currently in stable condition.
As authorities caught up with him on Interstate 66 in Northern Virginia, Flanagan, a former WBDJ7 reporter, shot himself. He ultimately died hours later at a hospital.
“It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we express our deepest condolences to the families of Alison Parker and Adam Ward. We are also praying for the recovery of Vicki Gardner,” Amber Bowman, a spokeswoman for Flanagan’s family, said from Vallejo, California. “Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with the victims’ families and the WBDJ7 News family. Words cannot express the hurt that we feel for the victims.”

After reading the statement, Bowman added that the family is requesting privacy at this time and will not be answering questions from the media.
