'National Medicare Education Week' includes free events in Atlanta

ATLANTA — The upcoming National Medicare Education Week in September will enable America’s baby boomers in the metro Atlanta area to have complex or confusing aspect of the health care system answered.
Families and caregivers in the Atlanta area are invited to participate in educational events, as part of National Medicare Education Week, which runs from Sept. 15 – 21. This annual observance begins exactly one month before the start of the Medicare Open Enrollment Period, which begins Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 7, 2015.
During the events, local UnitedHealthcare representatives and a Walgreens pharmacist will address people’s top questions and will be available to speak one-on-one. Events will take place at the southern and northern end of the metro Atlanta area:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 15, 9 a.m., at the Frank Bailey Senior Center, 6213 Church St., Riverdale, Ga., 30274;
  • Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2 p.m. at Campbell-Stone in Buckhead, 2911 Pharr Court South, NW, Atlanta, Ga., 30305.

To RSVP, log onto NMEW.com and click on “Attend an Event” or call 1-800-379-1208. There is no cost to attend but registration is requested.
For those unable to attend the events, UnitedHealthcare will host a Facebook Q&A session on Sept. 15 from 4-6 p.m. ET, where beneficiaries and their loved ones can get their Medicare questions answered.
