CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A wife was kidnapped from her home in this south suburban Atlanta county and then murdered by her husband’s mistress after the abductor’s car fled into east Alabama, the media has reported.
Sandra Barnett, 49, was taken from her home in Ellenwood, Ga., by the mistress wielding a gun on Wednesday. Police spotted the mistress’ Dodge Durango, which was spotted Thursday in Carroll County, Fox 5 reported.
The Georgia State Patrol and other authorities chased the SUV west along Interstate 20 until it mysteriously stopped in Cleburne County.
“The driver stopped in the middle of the highway, pulled out a handgun and shot (Barnett) and then turned the gun on herself,” the officer told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Both women were killed, though the name of the shooter has been withheld by officers at this juncture.
