Confederate Flag stolen from Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — The Confederate flag was taken down in South Carolina. In Georgia, someone simply stole it.
Police have confirmed that the Confederate battle flag has been swiped from the historic Stone Mountain Park in suburban Atlanta.
Police relayed that people discovered It was discovered this morning between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m., according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
John Bankhead who is a spokesman for Stone Mountain Park police, believes someone snatched up the flag in the cover of darkness overnight, but he cannot come up with an exact time.
The situation has the police flummoxed because they cannot yet come up with how the flag was taken from the pole, which stands approximately 40 feet tall.
According to Georgia law, the flag must fly. Not coincidentally, Stone Mountain used to be a hotbed for white supremacists group in previous generations, particularly the Ku Klux Klan.
Not to worry for Confederate battle flag supporters: a new flag was erected soon thereafter.
Police said the theft of the flag remains under investigation.
