There was hardly any surprise that there was some type of push back from fundamentalist Christians who remain loyal to the biblical statutes calling for only for a man and a woman to be married.
After the U.S. Supreme Court declared in a majority opinion that same-sex marriages are to be validated in all of the 50 states, the LGBT community erupted in bliss. Opponents of the ruling silently seethed or articulated their ire behind closed doors.
Some, however, were so filled with repulsion and disgust with the judges’ ruling they felt compelled to share their sentiments against gay marriages out in the public forum.
One was Minnesota Vikings veteran cornerback Josh Robinson. In a moment of emotional imprudence, the professed Christian went on a social media rant against the concept of marriage between the same sex and compared it to crimes of moral turpitude:

“Love is love? So what will we say when the 30yr old loves YOUR 10 year old. When the dad loves HIS 6 year old? It’s different? Yea okay!” Robinson said on Friday. “The day one person makes that stand, some may support, but many will say that’s sick! That day I will say ‘hypocrites.’”

“When did we start defining a word by using that word? Smh. If you really want to know. Love is… 1Cor 13:1-13,” Robinson said.

Robinson was far from finished, adding: “In the end EVERYONE has a right to believe what they want to believe. You shared yours, I shared mine. #BelieveiT,” followed by, “‘As a Christian I love EVERYONE and I will always share my beliefs we may not agree and that’s ok. God is love, 1 John 4:8.’”

What do you think of Robinson’s Twitter tirade? Does he have a point, that he is entitled to his opinion, or is this the type of limited thinking that has plagued the black church for decades?
