Roseland Community Leaders Say Rauner Cuts Hurt Vulnerable Children and Their Families; Demand That Gov ‘Choose Revenue’ Over Drastic Cuts to Fix Ailing Budget

Roseland advocates call Rauner out  to enact fair revenue solutions to expand Medicaid and Vital Services. They insist   Rauner’s Agenda Hurts Community Health and Safety-Net Hospitals

With the Roseland Hospital asthma respiratory care van as a backdrop, Roseland community leaders, hospital workers and clergy will call on Gov. Rauner to “choose revenue” to fix the state budget rather than further burdening vulnerable families and communities through his drastic budget cut proposals, which could also impact Roseland Community Hospital. The demand will be made Thursday, June 4, during an 11 a.m. press conference at the Lights of Zion Church, 11636 S. Halsted St.

Advocates are using the asthma van to highlight the potentially deadly impact the governor’s cuts will have on children and other major health disparities that exist in the community. Leaders will also highlight the lack of investment in Roseland and nearby south side communities and call on the governor and state lawmakers to enact fair and progressive revenue solutions in order to protect safety-net hospitals and expand Medicaid assistance for low-income children and families.
