NEW YORK — Celebrities got seriously turned up at the The Met Gala after party as a bevy of A-listers convened for libations and exotic cuisine and to be seen. Most people were dazzled by the plethora of ways you can come to being almost naked without being actually nude, as was exemplified by the likes of Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and some of the Kardashians (of course). 
Some casual pop culture observers are probably trying to figure out what is the Met Gala and what is it’s significance? Glad you asked. Formally called the Costume Institute Gala, the Met Gala is an annual fundraising soiree for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. This exclusive high-end, celebrity-rich affair also signified the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.
Each year’s event celebrates the theme of that year’s Costume Institute exhibition, and the exhibition sets the tone for the formal dress of the night since guests are expected to choose their fashion to match the theme of the exhibit.
