On March 22, the Northside Institutional COGIC, located at 302 W. North Ave., in the North Side, celebrated its 47th Anniversary of service to the community.
The occasion was a joyful and triumphant celebration of a church with a history that has continued for more than four decades. Founded in 1968 by, then Rev. Eugene Thorpe Sr. along with his wife, Evangelist Lola  M. Thorpe, the church has contributed significantly to the history of the North Side of Pittsburgh.
Not long after his arrival, Rev. Thorpe was promoted to Bishop. Since his private call to glory, Evangelist Thorpe and her children, have continued with Bishop Thorpe’s traditions.
