I am a huge fan of the TV show Empire and I like the fashions.
I was excited to find that the wardrobe is an eclectic mix of designer, department store, thrift store and donated fashion.
According to the shows designer Rita McGhee, for Cookie she went for bold prints and color.
It was exciting to know that some of what Cookie wears has been loaned from real-life Cookies, Janet Bailey and Monique Mosley, the wives of Earth, Wind and Fire’s Philip Bailey and Empire‘s executive music producer Timbaland, respectively.

In a TV Guide interview McGhee remembers her excitement when Bailey, the mother-in-law of her sister (who also happens to be McGhee’s assistant) initially agreed to lend her furs for Cookie to wear, because it allowed her to “bring the character to life, because this is a woman who has lived the life of music and excess.”
Take a look at some of the popular Cookie looks while we wait for season two of Empire. I can hardly wait.
