COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Dr. Creflo Dollar, the pastor of one of metro Atlanta’s most prominent mega-churches, is looking to raise $65 million through GoFundMe to purchase a new private jet in order to continue his transcontinental ministries, the church’s website said.
Specifically, Dollar is urging 200,000 church members and supporters of the World Changers Church International in the south Atlanta suburb to donate $300 each in order to accomplish the objective of completing “Project G650″ — which stands for the ultra-luxurious Gulfstream 650 — to replace the damaged private plane owns.
Don fret, however. Even if you cannot afford the $300 request, Dollar will accept a donation of any amount.
“Due to this recent incident coupled with the 31 years the airplane has been in service, we believe it is time to replace this aircraft so that our Pastors and staff can continue to safely and swiftly share the Good News of the Gospel worldwide,” according to a statement on the church website, which has now been taken down. “We need your help to continue reaching a lost and dying world for the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Dollar, 53, purchased the plane in 1999, but was built in 1984 and has logged more than 4 million miles. The costs to repair the 31-year-old luxury airliner would be immense, church officials said. According to reports, one of the engines on the plane went out during a recent trip, but the plane was landed safely and no one was hurt.
World Changers Church International boasts an 8,500-seat “World Dome” on Burdett Road and currently has 30,000 members with satellite churches spread out across the country.
