First Annual “Thank You” Award Ceremony Recognizes Detroit Neighborhood Business Owners

Detroit Smart Pages Newspaper, Detroit Development Fund and Quicken Loans today announced they will host the first annual “Thank You” Award Ceremony recognizing Detroit neighborhood small business owners. More than 30 businesses throughout the city will be honored for their investment, commitment and dedication to the communities and customers they serve. The awards ceremony and dinner will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Detroit Golf Club located at 17911 Hamilton Rd. in Detroit.
“Our goal is to bring together corporations, community leaders and city officials to meet, greet and thank the businesses owners who have been instrumental in the development and resurgence that’s now taking place in the city,” said Beverly Smith, publisher of Detroit Smart Pages Newspaper and one of the event organizers.
“Owning and operating a business can be very challenging. It takes hard work, courage and perseverance,” said David Carroll, Quicken Loans Vice President. “The Thank You Award is a great opportunity to show our deep appreciation for many of the small businesses that have been operating in Detroit for decades and have contributed so much to the fabric of the city.”
DTE Energy Foundation is a presenting sponsor for the event. Other sponsors include the Detroit Medical Center, Fifth Third Bank, Honigman Law Firm, Clark Hill Law Firm, Midtown Detroit, Inc., Radio One and Urban Partnership Bank.
“Small business is the backbone of the economy and Fifth Third Bank is proud to sponsor an event that rewards entrepreneurship,” said David Girodat, president and CEO of Fifth Third Bank (Eastern Michigan). “Detroit’s continued revitalization would not be possible without the dedication and efforts of the honorees.”
The honorees represent a cross section of businesses in the city including salon owners, grocery stores, retailers, restaurants, construction companies and manufacturers.
The evening will consist of a strolling dinner, award ceremony and entertainment. Tickets are available to the public for $35 and can be purchased online at www.thankyoudetroit.com or one of the following Detroit locations: Hot Sam’s Clothier, 127 Monroe, 313-961-6779; Times Square Clothier, 19330 Livernois, 313-342-9005 and All About Technology at 6450 Michigan Avenue, 313-218-4888
