Two DeKalb Police Officers Shot; Manhunt Underway

A citywide and metro-wide manhunt is underway for one of the two suspects responsible for shooting two DeKalb County police officers early this morning near Decatur, a suburb of Atlanta.
Authorities told the media that the two officers were responding to a reported home invasion and armed robbery just before 7 a.m. at 195 Highcourt Place when they were ambushed by the two suspects wielding rifles.
One of the suspects was hit when officers returned fire.
The two wounded officers were rushed to Atlanta Medical Center, while the suspected shooter was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. The suspect is listed in critical condition, 11 Alive reports.
The officer’s injuries were listed as non life-threatening. One officer was shot in the upper leg and the other was shot in the calf.
The second suspect got away and is currently on the run.
DeKalb County schools in the area — including Columbia High, DeKalb Preparatory Academy, Snapfinger Elementary and Towers High School — have been placed on lockdown at the behest of DeKalb Police.
