Much of Black America feels like they are playing a part in a grotesque version of the hit movie Groundhog Day. The same blood-soaked episode keeps happening over and over again, with only the cities and victims changing.
Just a week after a grand jury failed to indict a white police officer for killing an unarmed black man in Ferguson, Mo., another grand jury in New York County, N.Y. absolved white police officer Daniel Pantaleo of all wrongdoing in the choke hold death of Eric Garner, another unarmed black man, in the Staten Island borough.IMG_3474(4)
All over a collection of loose cigarettes.
A multicultural sea of humanity poured into Midtown Atlanta Wednesday night after the so-called outlawed choke hold slaughter of Garner failed to produce any murder or manslaughter charges against. The group #ShutItDownAtlanta formed a human blockade at the intersection of North Avenue and Spring Street, preventing commuters from entering Interstate 75/85 connector.

A battalion of local, county and state police officers surrounded the demonstrators  while they chanted “No Justice, No Peace, “I Can’t Breathe,” and “Black Lives Matter.” IMG_3476(2)
The crowd of about 400 then staged a “die in” by lying in the middle of the street, forming a circle, and tying up traffic for more than an hour before the APD warned them that if they continued to block traffic they would be arrested. The group then marched around lower midtown until they came to a rest outside the North Avenue MARTA station, where they began and implored demonstrators to continue the fight for justice and the obliteration of the deplorable police brutality that has sprung up across the country.
