Dawn Robinson Threatens to Sue Lifetime Over En Vogue Movie

Dawn Robinson attends the 'R&B Divas LA' premiere event at The London on July 9, 2013 in West Hollywood, California.
Former En Vogue singer Dawn Robinson says she will sue the Lifetime network if it airs a holiday-themed movie about the group that doesn’t include her character.
The cable channel is scheduled to premiere “An En Vogue Christmas” this weekend. The fictional movie follows a family that convinces the quartet to reunite to save a local concert house.

But, only two of the original members are in the film – Terry Ellis and Cindy Herron. They’re joined by Rhona Bennett, who was added to the group in 2003 to replace Robinson. (After Robinson left in 1997, Terry, Cindy and original member Maxine Jones had been performing as the trio EV3 until Bennett arrived.)
According to TMZ, Dawn may have a problem suing Lifetime over her exclusion, because she gave up all “En Vogue” rights years ago, after first leaving the group in ’97.
Robinson says at the very least she will boycott Lifetime, telling TMZ, “I have no interest in watching it. It looks horrible. I’m sad for them,” adding, “After seeing the Aaliyah biopic, I’m extremely worried that this is going to be a train wreck.”

“An En Vogue Christmas” premieres Saturday, Nov. 22, at 8/7c on Lifetime.
