MC Jessi Jone to perform her new single “Text Message’ November 20 – 22, 2014 at Overlea Players’ Fame production in Baltimore
Baltimore rapper/singer Jessi Jone to perform in the Overlea Players’ production of the Broadway musical Fame (5410 Kenwood Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21206) Thursday – Saturday November 20 – 22, 2014. The talented high school junior will also close the event by performing her new single “Text Message.”
Winner of the 15th annual “Uplifting Minds II” national talent competition Jessi Jone is also known as Captain Lee on stage because of her commanding performances. Jessi is also a dancer, actress, and spoken word artist.
Currently in the studio working on her debut mixed CD, Jone recently released “Text Message” from her upcoming debut project. She recently performed on the Baltimore City Summer Block Party Tour that visited 14 different neighborhoods.
The 15 year-old rising star had a love for the arts at a very young age. She recorded her first song at the age of nine, but didn’t perform in front of an audience until age 11. That first performance was at her middle school on talent show night where she impressed everyone with her lyrics and stage presence.
Jessi’s acting credits include performing in a long list of musical plays, and in one of the plays she portrayed rap icon Mc Lyte because of her impressive MC skills. Where most teenage girls her age are shy, she is not. Her approach to audiences is done with ease when she performs. Her energy on stage is so electrifying, and her focus on perfecting her God gifted talents is evident by her performances.
Her lyrical skills have been compared to great rap artists such as Eve, Queen Latifah, Mc Lyte, and Diggy Simons. She is managed by Evette Chapman and Shawn Boyd at 2Fresh Entertainment.
Jessi is known most for her remixed songs for “Beez in the Trap”, “Started from the Bottom,” and “Ambition”. The MC has several original songs recorded such as “Aim for it,” and “Everyday” that are popular amongst her peers. She describes her music as fun filled, clean and young.
