Some of Pittsburgh’s business and nonprofit leaders gathered for the 4th Annual Pittsburgh Circle of Courage Awards to recognize people who have shown faith and courage in their life and careers.
Recipients for the 2014 award include:
Rev. Floyd Wilson Alexander, Craig Bingham, Mel Blount, City Councilman Rev. Rickie Burgess, Rev. Clifton Chandler, Ervin Dyer, Gail Edwards, state Rep. Ed Gainey, Cecelia A. Jenkins, Diane Johnson, Kenneth Kneely, James and Pamela Johnson, Fred Kenderson, Mark Lewis, Rev. Darryl E. Lowe, Crystal Manker , Bishop Loran Mann, Tina Marcacci, Sharon McDaniels, Joyce Meggerson-Moore, Rev. Dr. James Moran, J. Mark Prybyl, Rev. Regina Ragin, Faye Ritter, John Stanko, Tim Stevens, William Strickland, Lenall Thomas, Sonya Toler, Mike Tomlin, James White, Judge Dwayne Woodruff.
The Pittsburgh Circle of Courage Awards was held Aug. 29 at the Doubletree Hotel, in Monroeville.
A meet and greet was held prior to the awards banquet.
This fast-paced awards program included music by flutist Kylee O’Donnell, inspiring life stories and words of encouragement.
The event was hosted by BCC Ministries and sponsored by Bynums Marketing & Communications Inc., Familylinks Inc. and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.
The Pittsburgh Circle of Courage Awards has included past award recipients such as Charlie Batch, former Steeler and founder of the Best of the Batch Foundation, and Bishop Leon D. Pamphile, founder of FLM of Haiti.
“This Awards stands apart from all others in that it is given to people that have won against the odds. Many of these people have gone beyond the call of duty. They are not chosen because of titles or position, but because they are making a difference,” said Rev. Andrew Newberry of BCC Ministries.
Proceeds from the Pittsburgh Circle of Courage Awards will benefit BCC Ministries.
