A suburban Atlanta mother and her boyfriend nearly killed their 2-year-old son when they allegedly gave him a potent mixed drink, which caused the infant to have alcohol poisoning and stop breathing, the police states.
The boy was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta after the parents noticed the baby suddenly became unresponsive and stopped breathing, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
According to the test from the hospital, the boy’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.29, which would be three times the legal limit for an adult driver in the state of Georgia, police said.
The so-called parents, Jasmin Briana Moore, of Cobb County, and William Chester Hickson, were charged with cruelty to children in the first degree and placed in the Cobb County Jail.
“Said accused did give the victim, a 2-year-old male child, a mixed alcoholic beverage which consisted of Coca-Cola and 40 proof Paul Masson Brandy, or said accused had knowledge that said child was drinking said alcoholic beverage and allowed the child to continue drinking in the presence of said accused,” both warrants stated.
Moore and Hickson are currently being held in the jail pending $75,000 bond.
