The health of school-age, African American children is a concern. Teaching children how to make healthy eating choices and how to get enough exercise are important parts of them leading long, healthy lives.
The Center for Health Equity in the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health funded the “Kids Can Cook” program.
At the Save-A-Lot in Wilkinsburg, the program offers instruction to 6-11 year-old kids about preparing healthy breakfasts and after-school snacks—all while their caregivers shop.
