Atlanta the 3rd Most Popular City to Move To

Atlanta was named the third most popular destination for U.S. families moving to a new city in summer 2014, according to a new survey by United Van Lines.
The city was particularly popular for people moving for new jobs, or due to corporate transfers.
The survey also shows Atlanta was the No. 3 city families are moving from.
The Summer Long-Distance Moving Trends Study says the most popular metro areas for U.S. families to move to were:
1. Chicago
2. Washington D.C.
3. Atlanta
4. Boston
5. Los Angeles
6. Dallas
7. Phoenix
8. New York
9. Minneapolis
10. San Diego
11. Houston
12. Philadelphia
13. Denver
14. Seattle
15. St. Louis
Don’t get to proud, ATL-iens. The Capitol of the New South was also cited by the same source as ranking No. 3 for families moving away from as well. Take a look at the top 15 cities people are moving out of:

A survey of United Van Lines customers moving to the top destination cities revealed that most (71.6 percent) moved for a new job or corporate transfer. Approximately 13 percent moved because of retirement and nearly 10 percent moved for health or other personal reasons.
Dallas/Fort Worth, followed by Atlanta and Los Angeles, were the most popular destinations for new jobs and corporate transferees. When it comes to retirement, respondents were drawn to warmer weather with Phoenix and Los Angeles topping the list.
Although Washington, D.C. tops the list for highest volume of outbound moves, it also had the second highest volume of residents moving into the metro area due to the fact that it is a transient city with a high number of people coming and going.
