“Every one of us is looking for the same thing — we want to know we matter.” — Oprah Winfrey.
The highly anticipated Oprah Winfrey “The Life You Want” weekend tour got off to a rousing start when one of the world’s most admired and richest women rose up from underneath the stage like a phoenix and was met with a roof-ratting ovation from the multitude inside Phillips Arena.
Scores of predominantly women were riveted to the core by Oprah’s uplifting and inspirational tale of her meteoric rise from abject poverty and hopelessness to one of the richest and most influential women the world has ever seen. With adorable photos of her childhood and early adulthood popping up on the big screen behind her, Oprah, wrapped in a flowing red gown, imparted invaluable information the multitude craved in order help manifest their long-awaited dreams.
The former talk show queen-turned-owner of her own network (OWN, Oprah Winfrey Network) regaled the throngs of fans by waxing poetically of her often-turbulent childhood, filled with rape and sexual abuse, yet was able to keep her spiritual and emotional compass pointed towards the horizons where her dreams awaited her.
To the delight and edification of her audience, Oprah liberally sprinkled life-altering nuggets of wisdsom into her 90-minute address to her fans. Below are some of the best ones from opening night, with many of the attendees posting them on Twitter and Instagram.
