CHICAGO (AP) – The candidates for Illinois governor are set to address a nonprofit group that addresses Chicago area growth.
Gov. Pat Quinn and his Republican challenger are set to attend the Metropolitan Planning Council candidate forum on Thursday. Each candidate will address the crowd for about 25 minutes, but they won’t face each other or be on the stage at the same time.
The council looks at issues like transportation, water infrastructure and the state’s fiscal picture.
The battle between Quinn and Bruce Rauner (ROW’-nur) is one of the most closely-watched governor’s races in the country.
Quinn is a Chicago Democrat seeking a second full term. Rauner is a venture capitalist from Winnetka seeking public office for the first time.
The election is Nov. 4.
