There are so many makeup trends, that it can be hard to keep up. One of the more popular ones resembles the almond shape of a cat’s eyes. Most women might refer to it as the “winged” look or “cat eyes.” This is one look you might want to play around with when you have nothing else to do. Makeup maven and creator of LybARTISTRY, LaTasha Benn, shares a few simple steps to help you master the look at home and look even more fabulous when batting your lashes. Here’s what she had to say…
The winged liner or “cat eye” liner has been a trending makeup look since the Egyptian times. It’s a look that never gets old and is an alluring and sultry look that pretty much goes with anything. But, one thing about this look that can make it challenging is simply knowing how to do it. I’ll admit after being a makeup artist for 8-years I have recently mastered the look myself. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can try it on yourself. And remember “practice makes perfect”!
What you’ll need: Angled Eye Liner Brush and a liquid or cream based liner. The brush is not necessary if you have a eye liner pin that has a nice, precise tip. You want to make sure you’re able to create thin and straight lines.
Step 1: Dip your brush in a little bit of eye liner, or if your using a liner pin, simply draw a thin line directly on your lash line as close to your lashes as possible. Continue following the upward curve of your eye, extending a little past your lash line, making the line as long as you want. The longer the line the more dramatic the look.
Step 2: Now it’s time to create the actual “wing.” Take your pin or brush and start drawing a line from the outer corner of the line you just drew and work your way back towards the center of the eye. Here you can make the liner thicker and more dramatic by drawing this line slightly above the first. It should look like you need to color in between the two lines.
Step 3: Take your pin or brush and begin to color in the space created by the two lines. If you didn’t create any space still go through and follow the eye liner, making sure the liner gets thinner as it gets closer to the inner corner of your eye.

Here are a few liners I’ve use to create my winged look:
Benefit’s Push-Up Liner
Maybelline’s Master Precise Liner
Wet n’ Wild’s Mega Cream Eye Liner (comes with an angle brush)
