Demetria McKinney video release party for '100' with Da Brat

Demetria McKinney has never been scared. Let’s get that straight right off the rip. When the caramel-coated cutie first took the role of the crackhead wife on Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne,” she parked her heavenly form inside an actually crack house — in the hood — to research the role.
So when McKinney hosted her own album release party a month or so ago, she pleasantly surprised people who don’t know her intimately. She sashayed silkily to the front of Treesound Studio, her come hither hips were wrapped tightly in black leather pants that was hanging on for dear life. She had stripped down totally of that often demure image she’s cultivated through her acting roles. Her introduction of her Officially Yours album was peppered with spicy language and her saucer-shaped eyes were ablaze with passion about her first love: music.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce to you Ms. “Dee Dee” McKinney.
The statuesque TV, movie and stage actress may be best known for “House of Payne,”  “The Rickey Smiley Show” and “Devious Maids,” but she is totally flipping the script with of her R&B hit “100,” featuring Da Brat.
Produced by The Good Guys, “100” song and video enable McKinney to finally showcase her beautiful pipes that match her regal visage. During the video party at the Suite nightclub, fans were able to see “Dee Dee” as she rocked with the female anthem, often flossing a series of couture styles. And it definitely helped to have history-making and Grammy award-winning rapper Da Brat bringing her charismatic, machine-gun persona to the McKinney mix.

McKinney discussed the sculpting and molding process to her highly-anticipated song and video.
“The song came out of a real conversation with the producers, just talking about some of the things I wanted represented on the album,” McKinney says of the RTD Entertainment release. “I love the song as a first single because it’s very far removed from what people may think they know about me, and it’s a song that I had fun recording – especially with Da Brat, who was so cool and down to earth. It was really amazing watching her create in the studio.”
And it’s been amazing watching the Dee Dee side of McKinney rise to the surface and blossom before the public. Take a look at some of the best photos from the “100” video release party.
