Alderman Leslie Hairston (5th) is calling a community meeting in response to the shooting that killed one man and injured another near a senior building in Hyde Park last night.
According to police, a 34-year-old man was shot twice in the back of the head while a second man was shot in the arm. The 41-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital.
The shooting took place on Sunday around 7:30 p.m., following the first full day of summer.
“I’m calling this meeting to see what plans police have for making sure we don’t have other incidents like this happen over the summer. Everybody deserves to be safe.”
The meeting will take place tonight (Monday) at 6:30 p.m. at Montgomery Place, 5550 South South Shore Drive, Chicago, Ill.
